About The Artist...

A talented handmade jewelry and inspirational gifts artist, Linda Straub resides in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she was born and raised, along with her husband and their four children.

She is a member of the Historic Barn & Farm Association and The Erie County Historical Society. Linda is involved with several churches and non-profit organizations within her community. As an artist she has had the honor to present her jewelry as gifts, to many well known personalities.  Her business has been featured on CNN as well as on a number of local television stations and other media in Erie, Pennsylvania and New York State.

Both Linda and her husband have been given a great passion for wood and preserving the meaning of things from the past. The History in the Making concept began in 2005 and later grew into a business. The story of how the business began and how it came to be named History in the Making is revealed in my book The Beauty of Barns.

We are meeting so many wonderful people on our journey, people willing to share their family history with us and entrust us with their meaningful treasures to preserve their memories for years to come.

About History in the Making

 What makes us different?  The History in the Making  Some of our creations are from century old barns ~  some are made from reclaimed exotic woods from various parts of the world. Each piece has some significance or history behind it so when you purchase one of our creations; it includes a description tag stating where it came from. You can also visit our wood types page to see the description and history behind each of the different woods we use. So you are not only getting a unique handcrafted creation, but you can also connect with the significance of that piece, for you to keep or share with someone else.  

Custom creations can be made with personal items made of many different materials including wood, beach glass, old costume jewelry, rifle casings ect. ~ The possibilities are endless! (see our custom orders page for examples).    The custom piece created for you using your own personal items will give you a one of a kind, meaningful keepsake to cherish for years to come.

Handmade in the USA These handmade creations are supporting small business in our country!  Some day America's original barns will be extinct. Some day many of the exotic woods we enjoy will be untouchable.

Earth Friendly!

We are doing our best to try and care for the earth that we have been blessed with. By encouraging people to reuse things they might have to be made into new creations, less is ending up in landfills.

 Each item we create incorporates reclaimed pieces of nature or old items that would have other wise been discarded or useless, thus decreasing waste and supporting recycling and reusing.
